CHUTE closed indefinitely, students ordered to vacate the hall

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CHUTE) has been declared closed indefinitely amid blockade and protests over the death of two students on the road. Today, Thursday (April 25), the registrar of Chuet, Dr. This instruction was given in a circular signed by Sheikh Muhammad Humayun Kabir. 

According to the notification, university students are asked to leave the hall by 5 pm today and female students by 9 am tomorrow. 

Last Monday (April 22) afternoon, Shanto Saha, a student of the 20th batch of Civil Engineering Department of Chuet, and Taufiq Hossain of the 21st batch were killed when a bus ran over them in the area adjacent to Selina Quader Chowdhury College on the Chittagong-Kaptai road.

Another student named Zakaria Himu was injured in the incident. He is on life support in a private hospital. The killer driver was arrested from Rangunia in connection with the death of the students. 

In the incident of two students being killed and one injured, the students of Chuet announced the boycott of classes and exams that night.

The students held various programs by blocking the road from Tuesday morning. The road communication between Kaptai and Chittagong was stopped. After the last four days of discussion, the decision to close the campus was taken after the Chuet students failed to withdraw from the movement.
